Hello Design Loves!! I am so excited to bring you todays post. If you ever wondered what my house looks like, then today is your lucky day LOL! I am going to be giving you a look inside my kitchen. When you are building a custom home, the sky is the limit really. But like with all projects I do, there are always investment considerations and the overall function is so important. So today I thought it would be fun to show you my favorite things about my kitchen.
Every once in awhile a client will reach out with a special request. This time my client said he wanted his house to feel like a pirate lives there. I immediately thought I hope he doesn't want me to literally turn his kitchen into a pirate ship LOL! Thankfully, we are were able to draw inspiration from that instead so we went with darker, more moody colors and lots of metal and wood accents.
Welcome to the beach cottage! I just love this house but it did have some issues that needed to be addressed. For starters it was only a two bedroom house and the layout was awkward. The first thing we had to do was address the layout. Y'all know if it does not function well it doesn't matter how pretty it is it will drive you nuts!
Last month I brought the kitchen and 1/2 bath remodel from this house and now I am revealing the primary and guest bathrooms! Both bathrooms had a wall separating the shower area from the vanity. This wall was making the bathrooms feel smaller and it was harder to move around in them-especially in the primary bath!
I have to say I really love it when I get my hands on a home that has not been updated since the 1970's because the transformation is so big! This house needed all the bathrooms updated as well as the kitchen. Today I am going to show you the kitchen and half bath remodel, and then next month I will talk about the two bathrooms. Spoiler alert-their some of my favorite bathrooms!
Exciting things are happening over here at MLR Design! We are partnering with Kristi Webb Interiors to bring you the Gulf Coast Design Center. Now you no longer have to travel to New Orleans or Atlanta to have access to all the products you need for your next home project!
Now that Halloween is over, and the holidays will be here before we know it, I thought it would be fun to show you a sneak peak into some design trends that you will be seeing more of in 2023.
As a mom, I understand putting your needs second to your families. So when my client reached out to me about updating her master bathroom, I immediately wanted to give her everything she wanted! She had lived with this builder grade bathroom for years, and now that her children are grown and out of the house it was finally time to do something nice for her.
Moving into a new home is exciting, but it can also be frustrating! Where do you put all your furniture into your new space and how do you make it your own? This is exactly what my new clients were dealing with when they moved into their new house. We turned an awkward space and made it into the grown up/kid friendly space my clients were wanting!
A few weeks ago I was able to take a quick trip to Atlanta to go to market and check out the latest in accessories for your home. I thought it would be fun to give you a look into what’s trending in home accessories and a little sneak peek into what’s going to be big in Christmas decorations this year!
Did you know that mudrooms/laundry rooms are now being called “disinfection stations”? Sounds a little clinical to me, so I’m just going to keep calling it a laundry room. And your laundry room is the hardest working room in your house.Whether you live in the Mississippi Gulf Coast like me and deal with sand everywhere, or you're up north dealing with snow, most laundry rooms need to serve several functions. It’s a landing zone for when you come into the house for shoes, purses, keys, backpacks, and all the things!
You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Your entryway gives guest a glimpse into your personal style and what your home says about you. Why not make it a powerful first impression?
Summer is fast approaching and one survey found that 80% of Americans plan to travel this summer! When my client reached out about renovating an investment property for an Air BNB, I knew we had to make it the perfect beach vacation spot.
When my clients reached out to me, they were looking to update their kitchen. Their house was divided into three closed off formal living areas and wanted to see what was possible. When I walked into the space, I immediately knew we could open it up to create one large entertaining and family hang out space. This would allow them to host friends and have the large family gatherings she was dreaming about!
The Kitchen and Bath Industry Show just wrapped up and there are some amazing products coming down the line. Today I want to bring my top five new products for you to incorporate into your next kitchen or bathroom remodel.
